an index to my poker pages
2009-01-18 - 11:23 a.m.
I don't think that the world is exactly crying out for another poker blog, but if anyone is interested, I'll have an index to my poker discussion entries on this page. I'm a former professional blackjack player, and I've only been playing poker seriously for two years, so if my plays amuse, amaze, and entertain, then sorry about that. There are a million better places to go to learn how to actually play the durn hands.
Limit Hold 'Em (generally 30/60 or lower limits) -
My First Royal Flush -- $2/4 full ring. "I flopped it, guys."
- The Seven Dooey Game -- 30/60 full ring post defense. It isn't often you get a chance to play 72 and beat the crap out of the guys who are playing aces.
- Set Over Set, or if I flop trip Qs over trip 8s, aggressive/clueless is the right kind of opponent to have. 15/30 full ring, with the gal we're all there to play acting immediately after me.
- Battle of the Overpairs -- that old wheeze about AA vs. KK vs. QQ? Not funny.
-
Two variation plays with pocket pairs -- a three-bet with pocket 3s and a limp/re-raise with pocket 8s -- er, maybe don't try that pocket 3 play at home.
- A straight flush humor hand from a weak 15/30 game.
- Amuse 'em and amaze 'em with the sooted one-gapper three bet, from a good 30/60 game.
- Fun with pocket deuces in a 30/60 9-handed family pot.
- How to get paid off with quads -- If you don't want to click to find out, the short version is, have a maniac in the game on your button when you arrange to get the quad threes in question.
- Mason Malmuth follows his own advice to never look directly at crazy people, gosh, is crazy people, ME???
- Stealing with ATC on the button -- how to play 63 offsuit in a 30/60 limit hold em game if you have teh crazy.
- More stealing at 30/60 LHE, but at least this time I have an offsuit one-gapper, the mighty 64 of offsuitedness.
- I get brutalized when I flop trip Queens out of position in 30/60 LHE, but it could have been worse.
- I'm a terrible human being for betting and raising with the best hand, so what are you going to do?
- Small stakes -- 5/10 cent LHE -- and I turn trip queens against a guy who may not even have a functioning pulse.
- 30/60 LHE -- big pot play with 54 sooted and black tens.
- 30/60 LHE -- squeezing out an extra bet on the river with AA against two opponents.
- 30/60 LHE -- two hands where I mess with the heads of good opponents, and in one of the hands I did the screwplay totally on purpose
- 30/60 LHE -- build a pot and get there on the river with your straight flush, it pays better.
- 30/60 LHE -- I
have more issues than National Geographic, or, the truth is, sometimes I feel pretty dirty.
- 20/40 LHE with a half kill -- a jackpot scam to get me to reveal my hand, and a legal if silly-looking steal based on the fact that I could easily read the jackpot player's hand.
- 20/40 LHE with a half kill back in some small mountain town where weak-tight play hasn't yet passed from fashion.
- 30/60 LHE -- making plays when you're struggling
- 5/10cent LHE -- the funny thing about playing for pennies is that it's probably the closest thing you'll get online to live 20/40 or 30/60
- 30/60 LHE--you will never be feared and hated as a poker player until you indulge in the screwplay
- 15/30 and 30/60 LHE -- I'm told I'm a shitty player and yet somehow you don't follow me to my new table?
NL Hold 'EM
- 1/2 NL 100 min. Buy-In. The first big hand I ever played at No Limit -- my KK crack Aces and the (no doubt hilarious) thought processes behind my actions
- 1c/2c NL hold 'em -- When Harrington wrote the chapter on "weak games," he was talking about these clowns.
- Dances with 1/2 NL spewtards
- My first 2/5 NL game-- damn, these boys are bad
-
2/5 NL--More bad play with AK -- strictly good for a giggle
- -1/2 NL--Anybody can play AQ badly, just call me anybody
- 1/2 NL--I crack grouchy dude's set with my lovely 5 ♣ 3 ♣
-
1/2 NL-I win a three-way all-in pot with a set of Jacks and keep stacking chips for simply hours
- 1/2 NL--My blufftard image pays off when I flop the nuts--no way any mentally normal middle-aged white lady gets paid for a shove on this board
- 1/2 NL--Me so crazy, you just have to pay me off
- 2/5 NL-I run down a maniac with nothing and back into a big hand
- 2/5 NL uncapped--You might as well shove
- 2/5 NL--15 outs twice? Sure, I'll shove! Wheeeeee!
- 2/5 NL--My day for flopping sets
- 2/5 NL-I play some "interesting" starters to keep the calling station calling
- 2/5 NL--Everybody in this game, including me, plays like a blind donkey, but it works out for me as long as I can avoid flopping sets
- 2/5 NL--It ain't April Fool until you're dealt Aces versus Aces
- 2/5 NL-- Tourists on a Monday
- 2/5 NL--I force a guy to run off to the 5/10 game so he doesn't have to play with idiots
- 2/5 NL- Hell is for nits
- 2/5 NL--I find a loose game, but it isn't loose against the middle-aged white woman, I have to steal all the $$$
- 2/5 NL--If you're gonna play with the BIG conures with BIG stompy feet, you'd better be able to stand up to the pressure, or how I leveraged a shorty's all-in shove to force the winner out of our pot
- 2/5 NL--Crazy play with 92 of offsuit and crazy players with TT
- 2/5 NL-- I has 53 soooooted and you don't, you might as well fold now
- 2/5 NL--I was supposed to win a big pot with Q2 soooooted
- 2/5 NL-- Now they just KNOW I'm a spazztard
- 2/5 NL--If not for flopping sets, I'd be making some serious $ in this game
- 2/5 NL--New Orleans 2010 Un-Official Donkey Fest
- 2/5 NL -- Sending a message with 74 of offsooooot
- 2/5 NL-- I play small ball, Mehta plays hardball and, I gotta say it, watching him in action is much more interesting than some poker authorities I could mention, tee hee
- 2/5 NL -- I make as much money from steals as from flopping real hands, because ain't nobody nowhow paying me off in this game
- 2/5 NL -- I make a lot of hands but don't make a lot of money, need to work on some of those little leaks I'm seeing...
- 2/5 NL-- The first rule of poker is protect your hand, the second rule of poker is apparently have a working sexual relationship with someone somewhere in surveillance if you don't protect your hand
- Two AK hands at 2/5 NL
- A series of nervy bluffs at 2/5 NL result in a nice pay-off when I finally pick up a set.
- Why I hate pocket aces, 2/5 NL.
- A four-part series on bluffing like hell at 2/5 NL:
- A 2/5 NL Three-Way All-In Where I flop a straight with a re-draw to the straight flush
- Two 2/5 NL hands where it should be obvious I've hit my flush but my opponent puts me all in anyways...profit!
- Several hands with pocket kings -- Kings as a bluff-catcher and Black Kings is the hand of the day.
